Our Favourite Sunday Roasts

Forget about the summer sunshine, autumn is on its way. And with it comes tender meat, crispy Yorkshire puddings and lashings of gravy...

If you're struggling for ideas of things to do in Broadstairs this weekend, a Sunday roast out is the perfect treat that never ceases to fail, especially in the colder weather. To help ease ourselves into the oncoming brisk weather, we thought we'd do a rundown of our favourite places that we recommend you visit while staying in our luxury rooms. We’ve picked one each from Broadstairs and our neighbours Ramsgate & Margate while making sure that they are accessible by taxi.

Kicking off the list with one of our favourites - Wyatt & Jones.

An independent, family-owned restaurant that is nestled on the edge of Viking Bay in Broadstairs just a short walk away from our

self-catering apartments. It is run by a husband and wife team,

Jan and Kat Wyatt along with head chef Ryan Whitlock. The

well-known establishment is featured in both the Michelin Guide & Good Food Guide and we can see why!

Dine here and you'll have the choice of a 45-day aged, ex-dairy beef sirloin paired with a horseradish emulsion; a Mangalitza pork loin with a burnt apple puree; or opt for the vegan coal roasted miso swede in a chestnut crumb. Each option comes

with all the trimmings like roast heritage carrots with pine nuts

& salsa verde, stout glazed charcoal hips with a buttered crumb, grilled celeriac with hazelnuts and of course, beef dripping layered potato with rosemary salt, Yorkshire pudding & jus.

Next up on the list is the award-winning, Buoy & Oyster.

A family-run seafood restaurant overlooking the beautiful Margate beaches. Head Chef Craig Edgell serves up a heart-warming roast worthy of more than just a glowing

TripAdvisor review.

Open from 12pm through until 8pm, the team at Buoy & Oyster serve up some of the best roasts we know of. How does a sirloin of beef sound? Or an old spot pork loin with crackling and apple? Both sit alongside duck fat roast potatoes, cauliflower cheese with onion and poopy seed crumb, stock pot carrots, windmill allotment greens and bonemarrow gravy. Not a meat eater? Vegan roasts are available upon request and pre-order to ensure that you have the best possible vegan roasties!

Buoy and Oyster are currently takings bookings of up to 8 people, follow the link below to reserve your space.

Finishing off with another restaurant that is family-run,

the Royal Harbour Brasserie. The venue is known for its incredible views of the sea and sunsets, there is no better

place to get a feel for the Ramsgate Riviera whilst casually

dining - or having a tipple or two.

Chef Patron Adrian Mowl was executive chef at the London Olympic Village 2012, but prior to that launched the restaurant in Margate's Turner Contemporary Gallery, cooking the Gala dinner for the late HRH Queen Elizabeth II. You can see why the venue was placed in the 2014 Good Food Guide!

The Brasserie serves a filling Sunday roast made with fresh, locally-sourced ingredients. Their menu changes regularly with an emphasis on imaginative fish dishes, but rest assured as there are always vegetarian, gluten-free and meat options available.
