Inside pubs have opened, we can finally see family and friends indoors, and we are all looking forward to exciting events this summer. The fact that we may have missed out on some of our most beloved events and excursions last year makes everything that much more thrilling! Here at Broadstairs Apartments, we not only provide you with luxury, self-accommodating holiday homes, but provide you with the best enriching experiences in town too. Local events and celebrations are what make the world of Broadstairs go round, which is why we are here to tell you about Broadstairs Folk week!
From the 6th-13th August, Broadstairs Folk Week will present you with some of the best folk acts around, creating an inspiring week of music, dance, and possible workshop activities. What we love about Folk Week is how interactive they make the experience. Not only can you immerse yourself in the world of folk culture by watching and listening, but you can also join in! Community is what Broadstairs does best, and events like this further demonstrate how exciting life by the sea is.
Broadstairs Folk Week always brings the best of the best when it comes to their musical line up, and this year is no exception. We can’t wait to be tapping our feet to George Hinchliffe’s Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain, “The world’s very first Ukulele Orchestra is not just about ukuleles; it is about entertainment, joy, fun, strum and artistry.” The Ukulele band have played alongside the likes of Robbie Williams, Madness, The Ministry of Sound, and Clean Bandit. This is certainly an act you don’t want to miss. We can also expect to hear from Breabach, The Young’uns, The Gigspanner Big Band, and many more.
Events like Broadstairs Folk Week remind us of the vibrancy in our beautiful little town, especially after a year stuck inside our homes. This vibrancy stems from the sense of community in the town, and community means taking part and doing stuff together. The organisers for the event are not completely certain whether the usual music and dance workshops will be able to go ahead like they normally do. However, be sure to keep an eye on the ‘Workshop’ page on their website for any updates. Remember, just because we may not be able to participate in these physical activities, we can still come together and join in with the other fantastic events of the week.
If you’re asking yourself where you’re going to stay during the week and you’ve decided not to stay in one of our self-catered apartments by the sea, there are great camping facilities located at Dane Court School, Broadstairs Road CT10 2RT for the weeklong event!
