Folk Week in Broadstairs

It is finally time for Broadstairs Folk Week! Now is the perfect time to get into the festival spirit in a beautiful location. Broadstairs is bringing you some of the best acts folk music has to offer, and we can’t wait to see them. Broadstairs Apartments will provide you with quality holiday homes to come back to after a day of live music, dancing, and sunshine. After much time spent at home over the last year, this is the perfect opportunity to get involved with the community and experience Folk Week with friends. Everyone in Broadstairs gets involved during Folk Week, here is all you need to know to help you plan your trip!

Concerts:

From the 6th-13th August, Broadstairs will be the host to a huge variety of folk musicians. This year sees the opening of a new venue for Folk Week, the Festival Arena located in Broadstairs Memorial Recreation Ground. This space will act as the musical hub for Folk Week, allowing you to see a whole host of musicians in one place!


These are a few we can’t wait to see:

- The Young’uns – Friday 6th August. This mainly accapella group from the north of England are three-time winners of the BBC Folk Awards. Book your tickets here.


- Breabach – Saturday 7th August. The highly talented Scottish band are a fantastic watch, over their 15 years they have acquired several impressive awards and nominations including 5 Scots Trad Music Awards. Book your tickets here.


- Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain – Friday 13th August. Come are see the Ukulele Orchestra who have played alongside Clean Bandit, Robbie Williams, and The Ministry of Sound! A performance you won’t want to miss, book your tickets here.

Venues:

As well as the new Festival Arena, this folk week we can expect participation from a range of venues in Broadstairs. The festival bar, within the craft and music fair in Victoria Gardens, allows you to join in with workshops, enjoy a drink, and soak up the sun by the sea. There are plenty of pubs taking part in Folk Week too, providing you with even more live music throughout the whole town. These pub gigs are free to festival goers, and give you the opportunity to see a wide range of artists and styles, all in one week. Even after the concerts and live music ends for the evening, night life is still busy in Broadstairs pubs and bars. Be sure to make the most of the busy atmosphere and friendly vibe.
